What does 32x4, 16x8 based mean?
The same memory module (in our case 256mb) can be built with different kinds of chips. We refer to this difference as chip nomenclatures. In memory-jargon these would be called out as 8x8 (pronounced 8 by 8) or 16x8, or 32x4 chips. The memory module built with 32x4 chips are less expensive but will only work with certain chipsets. These are VIA KT-133, KX-133. VIA SIS 730 & 630, AMD 751 Iron Gate, VIA Apollo 133A Pro and VIA 694. Please check your chipset when ordering this part from us or any other vendor. If you donot have one of these chipsets then please order the 16x8 based module as that will work on any chipset.
